I just saw Mother Load last night in Huntsville, AL and it was AMAZING! L-O-V-E-D it! {Do you know the trouble I went through for that dash emphasis? What with the shifting and not shifting and all? THAT is love!}

In short: I laughed until my cheeks hurt and then I wanted to go home and play Hungry Hungry Hippos with my kids. Betsy Stover did a magnificent job telling my life story. Well, it wasn't mine, really. It's actually Amy Wilson's, the mom who wrote Mother Load. But it's the story of the modern mother, so it very much felt like my story. It's like the writers had actually been to my house! In a very, very humerous way, Stover vents and questions where these pressures come from - magazines, books, doctors, other moms - by talking through personal experiences with infertility, pregnancy, childbirth, nursing, the second baby, and life with 3 kids under 5. Note: I know these probably weren't Stover's actual experiences, that she was acting. But they very well could have been her own because she sold it so well. It didn't feel like you were watching an act, it was like just watching a really good mommy-friend share her stories. My friends and I could relate to nearly every comedic portrayal of this mom's experience, so we laughed hysterically throughout the whole thing. Stover had excellent delivery - her acting was magnificent! I highly recommend it to all moms of young children!! See if there's one near you, grab a couple girlfriends and go!

Great show in Richardson last night! My husband surprised me with show tickets - it was a great choice. Thank you so much for such a great laugh (and cry) last night. I wish you were in town longer because I would have loved to get a group of all my mom friends together to come laugh, too!

With a 9 month old son at home, I could so relate!! It was a wonderful show and have talked about it to everyone all weekend. My husband took me to see this for Valentine's Day....so wonderful.

I got to see the show yesterday afternoon in Ricardson, Texas and came home feeling both vindication but also enlightened.

The very last line about wanting to be able to say that 'these were the best times of my life" will not leave me.

I'm going to try and apply this perspective to my life now, which is raising three little girls 6 and under.

Thank you so much. I wish alll women who have kids or plan on having kids could see this.

Written and performed by Amy Wilson, MOTHER LOAD dialogues about her life as a mom of children all under the age of 5. I knew it was bound to be a good show when I saw how the set looked just like my house Ð toys all over the floor, clean laundry bunched up in a basket, and shoes scattered about... I was instantly connected to Amy's experience... The messages are all around us: Òbreast is best,Ó plastic equals danger, your child watches EVERYTHING you do, all day long, and organic foods are the only option, among many others!

We(my sister, mother and I)went to the show last night for my mother's birthday. What a GREAT gift! This show spoke to all of us; my sister has a 4 year old and I have twin 16 year olds and then, of course our mother laughed with and at us! What a refreshing and much needed message Amy brings to all of us!! We laughed so hard and left feeling so impowered and happy. Amy, I have to tell you that even though the lap pillow was a such a horrible fashion disaster for you .... it saved me; try breast feeding twins at the same time. It was, what my husband called, my "tu tu"; I was half naked with that gigantic pillow around my waist every 3 to 4 hours (yes I DEMANDED a schedule). This show was such a great time! Thank you!

I thought Mother Load was great and I could relate to everything. It's nice to know I'm not the only mom who can't wait for her kids to go to bed and is watching the clock all day!!! But the end put it all in perspective because they are young for such a short time and I know I will be missing all of this in a few years!

I went to see the opening night of ÒMOTHER LOADÓ at the Scottsdale Centerfor the Performing Arts last night. It is an affordable and thoroughly enjoyable evening out. It was a hoot! GO! It was laugh-out-loud funny and well observed, beautifully written and performed realistically with humor, poignancy and impeccabale timing. If you are a mother, about to become a mother, or have a mother, you will love this play! Treat yourself and go and have a laugh! And remember, if you see a mother duck gracefully and elegantly moving across tranquil waters, you know she is kickin' and furiously flippin' her feet beneath the surface trying to keep afloat and her head above water!!

Absolutely brilliant!! Thanks for bringing to life so much of what I have been experiencing for the past 7 years, starting with the "birth plan!" I felt like you have been watching me with hidden cameras and stealing my thoughts! It was the combination of "Perfect Madness" the book meets "The Far Side." The insights of Amy where absolutely spot on! It was such a treat to be able to laugh at ourselves and the ridiculous corners of the world we have painted ourselves into. Thanks for bringing this to Phoenix. PLEASE COME BACK SOON!

I just wanted to tell you how much my sister, mom and I all enjoyed Mother Load! Amy is so talented and funny - and her take on modern motherhood was spot-on. I thoroughly enjoyed it all!

What A TERRIFIC show! I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and could SO relate to the theme. There were all ages of women and all seemed to be able to relate and it was surprising to me how many men there seemed to enjoy it as well! I could see again MANY times!

Every once in a while something comes along...that brings a little zing of energy into your life. Amy has done a great job of taking her everyday experiences in the life of a mother and turned them into something edifying, something that can offer us weary parents a bit of a reprieve as we stand back and reflect on the "insanity" of the child-rearing life with a bit of humor. I'm definitely inspired and hope you will be, too.As you move through your world today, may your joys outweigh your burdens

I saw Mother Load in Charlotte NC last Sunday and loved it! Everything she talked about is real life issues a mom goes there. Every the poop art on the crib! LOL I saw it with my mom, sister and best friend and we all laughed so hard!

A true glimpse of motherhood! Funny and touching!

I don't think there's a mom out there who won't relate to Mother Load. It touches upon just about every topic under the sun that we spend endless hours wrestling over.

"Mother Load" gives you permission to sing a little more and play a little longer. That load of laundry's not going anywhere. Go see it. You'll laugh out loud over and over again!

Last week, I saw MOTHER LOAD at the Stage Door Theater uptown. It was one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time - I laughed for 80 minutes straight! Amy Wilson is an absolute hoot and she will have you in stitches! I could relate to every single aspect of Amy Willson's (writer/performer) life as she draws from her own experiences as a mother of three under age five (sounds like my life if you add a pair of oops twins!). You will leave with a powerful message that we just need to take a step back and enjoy our kids. Before we know it, they'll all be grown up and we will want these years back. I try to remind myself of this every time the twins tear down my window treatments!

I was lucky enough to go to the show today and it was AMAZING! It really hits home. I too am a mom that gets caught up in trying to do everything perfect for my family and in the end feels like nothing is up to snuff. This show delves into all the "stuff" we moms get caught up in when, in the end, the most important thing really is to love your children and enjoy your time with them.

Fantastic showÉloved it!!!
I have a 8 month old and i related to the show right away...I really enjoyed myself.
-- Reviewer: sharonavnon

My wife and myself are still laughing. We went to see the show on Saturday night and continue to laugh out loud about how accurate Amy Wilson was with motherhood in NYC! My wife enjoyed it so much that she is brining a group of her girlfriends to the show in 2 weeks.

Intelligently written and a great delivery!

What a talent! Amy Wilson is an extraordinary talent. This may be a one-woman show but, because of her ability to do a variety of voices and accents, you think there is a much larger cast! I laughed from start to finish.

This show is for everyone, young or old, man or woman, married or single. I'm recommending this performance to everyone I know. Do yourself a favor and go see it!
-- Reviewer: nosliwjim

Guys, definitely go see this...hilarious!
I saw Motherload with a couple of my buddies and couldn't stop laughing. Everything insane that you hear about being a Mom in New York is brought to life in the funniest possible way.

I went back for an encore with my wife and another couple and its just as great the second time around.

Not just a chick show! I am an unmarried guy who did not expect this show to have any meaning for me. At the least I hoped it would be entertaining - which it was - extremely, but moreover I was surprised to find it completely engaged me on a personal level.
It's certainly a show that hits all the points that would be most meaningful to new/recently new/expectant mothers, but it crosses genders in that it's also about the doubts we have about ourselves, men or women, facing any giant life change and how every question we ever had about our ability to perservere reemerges in the face of that change. It's also an inspiring story of how to overcome those feelings.
It's also damn funny.

This Is the Mother of One-Woman Shows
I've been to many, many one-woman shows, and this must be one of the smartest, funniest and most insightful ones I've seen. I think the difference here is that Ms. Wilson has real material to work with--the conflicts and joys and ironies and I-can't-believe-this-is-my-life triumphs of motherhood.
I'm not even a mom, but I was completely enthralled.

Must See Mother Load
Anyone with little ones in their life must see Mother Load. I live in Maine and was lucky enough to see a DVD of Mother Load and laughed at and related to all of Amy's experiences as a mom of two boys. I have shared the DVD with many friends and we were amazed to find that the challenges confronting moms in Manhattan are the same as those facing us in rural Maine - endless mommy and me classes, the ever-present breastfeeding nazi, and yes, even $800 strollers in the country! Amy makes us all feel a bit less crazy and crazed and reminds us to just step back and laugh sometimes.
I will continue to share the DVD and can't wait to catch the live performance!

Sex in the City Review
I went to Mother Load last year with a bunch of single/childless girlfriends and we laughed just has hard as all the Mom's and Dad's in the crowd. Amy Wilson's brilliant delivery and biting wit/sarcasm is something all New Yorkers can appreciate! We laughed so hard at times we couldn't breathe. Anyone who has nieces/nephews, friends with kids, or have just seen the little kids in their building terrorizing their parents in the elevator will love this show! On that note my parents and husband also enjoyed the performance as the overall themes are broader and apply to people who are not 'mothers' themselves but understand the 'load.' I am going back a 2nd time and have recommend this to friends/clients so treat yourself to a fun night out!

Continuous laughs!
Moms and dads should not miss this hysterical show! You will be head-nodding in agreement and parental camaraderie with everything coming out of Amy Wilson's mouth. Motherload makes for a truly enjoyable evening with lots to talk about afterward. Perfect for both girls-night-out and date night.
-- Reviewer: debcollins

Not just for chicks, I thought the show was tremendous. So spot on hilarious. Would be great for a moms' night out - although my husband came with and thought it was very funny. Such a fun night - and so much more reasonable than full price broadway tix.
